Dental Education

Stellar Stats!

During the 2007-2008 school year, we were able to...

...Visit 48 schools

...Attend 35 special events

...Educate 16,396 children and 5,423 adults

Dental Health Education is a key component of the St. David’s Dental Program and is an important tool for ending dental disease. Presentations are offered for both children and adults. To schedule a dental health presentation, contact us!

Adult Presentations:

The purpose of the Adult Dental Education Classes is to educate, inform, and remind adults about proper dental hygiene instruction and appropriate nutrition for themselves and their families. As part of the interactive, participatory approach to dental health education, participants are encouraged to ask openly any questions and/or make any comments. Each interactive presentation involves open discussions about:

  • Proper oral health care and nutrition practices
  • Preventing "baby bottle" tooth decay
  • Proper brushing and flossing techniques
  • The importance of parental involvement in encouraging positive dental health
  • Healthy food and drink alternatives/options

In addition to educating and informing adults and their families about oral health and healthy food options, bilingual dental health materials, publications, and dental products are distributed at the end of each presentation.
